The 2019 China-America Frontiers of Engineering symposium was held June 20-22 at the Irwin M. Jacobs Qualcomm Hall in San Diego, California. Sixty of the most promising engineers under the age of 45 from China and the United States met for an intensive 2-1/2 day symposium on developments at the cutting edge of engineering technology in four areas: Frontiers of Neuroengineering for Restoring Human Sensory and Motor Functions, Smart Cities, 5G Wireless Communication Technology, and New Materials. The event is intended to facilitate international and cross-disciplinary research collaboration, promote the transfer of new techniques and approaches across disparate engineering fields, and encourage the creation of a transpacific network of world-class engineers. CAFOE is carried out in cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
The National Academy of Engineering would like to express its gratitude to Qualcomm, The Grainger Foundation, and the National Science Foundation for their support of the 2019 CAFOE Symposium.
