We look forward to your participation at the 2017 CAFOE Symposium to be held June 22-24 at Tongji University in Shanghai, China. 

Meeting Format

• Symposium lasts 2½ days, from a Thursday morning until Saturday lunchtime. There is a welcome reception the evening of Wed., June 21.
• Plan to attend all sessions to reap maximum benefit and show consideration to all speakers.

Posters

• Each attendee should share information about their work during the poster session.
• Posters remain on display throughout the meeting.
• Maximum poster dimensions will be noted here at a later date.
• In addition to posters, presentations could also be videos, demonstrations of devices, etc.

Hotel

• A block of rooms will be reserved, probably at the Kingswell Hotel Tongji. 
• We will reserve your hotel room based on your request on the travel form, due Monday, May1.
• Please do not contact the hotel directly to make a reservation.
• We will email you hotel confirmation the week before the symposium.
• You must provide a credit card or cash deposit for incidentals at check-in.
• If you need to make changes to your hotel reservation or if your travel plans change, please contact Sherri Hunter immediately.
• If you do not notify FOE staff or the hotel about cancelling/altering your room reservation 24 hours in advance, you will be billed for that room night.

Ground Transportation

CAE is picking up US attendees arriving June 21 at PVG and providing transportation back to PVG on June 24 and 25.

If you are arriving on June 21, look for the CAE volunteers holding this sign after you get through customs.

If you are not being picked up by CAE at PVG on June 21, print these important ground transportation instructions.

Taxi

• Taxi is the most convenient way for getting to Kingswell Hotel Tongji from Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
• The trip takes about an hour (various under different traffic conditions) and costs about 200 Yuan (about $30).
• If you have any difficulty for identifying the hotel, please show the sentence below in Chinese to the taxi driver:

Subway

• The cheapest choice is to take Subway Line 2 at PVG airport
• Transfer for Subway Line 10 at East Nanjing Road Station
• Get off the subway at Tongji University Subway Station.
• The trip takes about 1.5 hours and costs 10 Yuan (about $1.5).
• Kingswell Hotel Tongji is right next to Exit No. 2 of the subway station, within walking distance (5 minutes).

China Visa Requirements

• US citizens must have a visa for travel to China. If you are not a US citizen, check with the Embassy of China to determine whether you need a visa.
• Those who need a visa will be emailed an invitation letter from CAE for you to use to apply for a visa as soon as possible.
• Applying for a visa and visa application fees are your responsibility.
• Please visit the US Department of State and Embassy of China websites for more information about travel to China and obtaining a visa.
