We look forward to your participation at the 2015 German-American Frontiers of Engineering Symposium, hosted by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, to be held April 16-18 at the Steigenberger Hotel Sanssouci in Potsdam, Germany. Meeting Format The symposium runs from Thursday morning through Saturday morning. In order to achieve the objectives of the program, we ask that you attend all sessions of the entire symposium. This meeting is unlike other meetings you may attend where it is possible to pick and choose the sessions in which you wish to participate. In addition to showing consideration toward all the speakers, who have worked hard preparing for this meeting, you will reap the maximum benefit from the symposium by participating fully in both the formal sessions and informal events over the course of the 2-½ day meeting. There is a welcome dinner/registration on Wednesday evening, April 15. Posters: In addition to the technical talks given at the symposium, attendees will have the opportunity to present their work in an afternoon poster session on Thursday, April 16. These posters will be displayed throughout the meeting and provide an opportunity for every participant to share information about his/her work. The material presented can be on posters, but could also include—particularly for those from industry—videos, demonstrations of devices, etc. Attendees who are presenting posters are asked to submit 1-2 slides (.ppt or .pdf format only) with your short presentation to Anke Teubner by March 18. These flash talks will give the opportunity to get an overview of all posters after which there will be time for discussion during the two poster sessions. Please bring your printed poster to the meeting site as there are no facilities to print posters at the conference hotel. Each participant will be provided a board upon which to affix his/her poster, with maximum poster dimensions of 117 cm wide x 145 cm high (approx. 46 inches wide x 57 inches high).
Tours: There will be a cultural tour of Potsdam on Friday afternoon. Location The meeting and lodging will be at the Steigenberger Hotel Sanssouci in Potsdam, which is served by Berlin-Tegel Airport and Berlin-Schönefeld Airport. US attendees flying from the US should book flights to Berlin-Tegel Airport and will need to depart the US on Tuesday, April 14 in order to arrive in Germany in time to attend the full meeting. US travelers whose travel is being paid by NAE must book their flights through Uniglobe Kentlands Travel per the email you received on December 11. Steigenberger Hotel Sanssouci Allee nach Sanssouci 1 14471 Potsdam Germany Phone: +49 (0) 331-90910 Because we have a group reservation, AvH will collect hotel information from you and submit it to the hotel.
