We look forward to your participation at the 2011 China-America Frontiers of Engineering Symposium, to be held March 28-30, 2011, at the Irwin M. Jacobs Qualcomm Hall at Qualcomm in San Diego, California.
The symposium runs from Monday morning through Wednesday lunch. In order to achieve the objectives of the program, we ask that you attend all sessions of the entire symposium. This meeting is unlike other meetings you may attend where it is possible to pick and choose the sessions in which you wish to participate. In addition to showing consideration toward all the speakers, who have worked hard preparing for this meeting, you will reap the maximum benefit from the symposium by participating fully in both the formal sessions and informal events over the course of the 2-1/2 day meeting. There is a welcome reception/registration on Sunday evening at the Woodfin Hotel San Diego.
Posters: In addition to the technical talks given at the symposium, attendees will have an opportunity to present their work in an afternoon poster session on Monday, March 28. These posters will be displayed throughout the meeting and provide an opportunity for every participant to share information about his/her work. The material presented can be on posters, but could also include -- particularly for those from industry -- videos, demonstrations of devices, etc. (Please let us know in advance if you plan to use any sort of device.) Unfortunately, NAE does not have funding available to cover the cost of poster production. If this is a factor, the information can be presented on individual sheets of paper. Tacks will be provided. Display board dimensions are 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall by 2 feet (61 cm) wide.
Tours: We will be touring the Qualcomm Museum, QRC, and the Manufacturing Floor.
The meeting will be held at Qualcomm. It is served by the San Diego International Airport, which is approximately 11 miles away.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Woodfin Hotel San Diego. The negotiated rate is $119 per night plus an applicable 12.5% tax. Because we have a group reservation, we will collect hotel information from you and submit it to the hotel. Do not contact the hotel directly to make a reservation. The Woodfin Hotel San Diego is located approximately 11 miles from San Diego International Airport. The hotel is within walking distance of the meeting site and there will also be shuttle buses available between the hotel and Qualcomm. Travelers will need to take the Cloud 9/Super Shuttle for $32 or a taxi for approximately $60 from the airport to the hotel. Transportation between the hotel and Qualcomm will be provided each day, or participants may walk, so rental cars are not needed. At the conclusion of the meeting on Wednesday, bus transportation to San Diego International Airport will be provided (12:30 p.m. departure).
