My research area is in biomechanics and tissue engineering, where we aim to apply mechanical engineering principles and regenerative medicine strategies to repair damaged tissues in the body. 

FOE has been valuable because it allowed me to meet researchers in fields I normally would not, including Jeanette Garcia, a chemical engineer in the polymer division at IBM, with whom I have an ongoing fruitful scientific collaboration.
